Prague, Czech Republic.

By Paulie | May 1, 2008

This was the day for returning back to the UK, but we had all morning to take a final wander through the streets of Prague. It was a time to look around the shops and to buy one or two souvenirs. But eventually it was time to head back to the hotel for the last time and wait for the taxi to take us to the airport.

At the designated time the taxi duly arrived and drove us to the airport. All went smoothly through check-in and security and eventually our plane arrived, unloaded and refuelled and we boarded. After take-off the captain announced that the weather over the UK was quite stormy so the landing could be a bit tricky but nothing to worry about. All was cloudy until we were almost at the coast of the UK when suddenly out of the window I could see Spurn Point, where I had walked a year or two before.

We followed the Humber Estuary and approached Leeds/Bradford Airport. The plane did seem to be buffeted by the wind as we approached the runway, so it was with some relief that we landed safely. Passport control was very slow, only one desk being open for the first 20 minutes. A tidal surge had been predicted for the North Sea coastal areas, so it was a case of heading home as quickly as possible to make sure all was well with the house. Once reassured that all was secure it was time for sleep, tomorrow would be a journey to the third ā€œCā€ of the trip.
